Pixel peepers tend to be caught up in that world but rarely are they regular real world users. Example, I sold my Siggy 50mm f1.4 lens in favor of the EF 50mm f1.2L. The Siggy is regarded as the sharpest 50mm lens made. But it doesn't even come close to the capability of the Canon 50mm f1.2L in the hands of a real photographer in real use. Has full-time manual focus. Canon EF 50mm F/1.4 USM. Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM. With full-time manual focus, you can move the focus ring whilst it is in AF (autofocus) mode. This means that you can make manual adjustments once the AF has finished, without changing to manual mode. This said, this Canon 50 is the world's only f/1.0 SLR lens, so as the only lens at this level, it is literally beyond comparison at f/1.0. At f/1.4, it's sharper than the 50/1.4 USM. At f/2, it's sharper than the 50/1.4 USM and 50/1.8 II. See Canon 50mm Lenses Compared for more details.
